Post an entry to the Irish names list

Step by step instructions. All bold steps must be completed.
1. Enter the family name being researched:


Checklist:
• No given names are acceptable in this field.
• The field should contain one surname and its variants only.
• Enter the most common form first, then the variants.
• Use no punctuation except / between names.
• Use no punctuation except _ between words of compound names.
 If variants are known include as:

If name is compound show as:

Do not use these formats:

Do not type given names:
crossname5
Do not type different family names:
crossname6
Duplicate postings for the same name in the same State/Colony or Country will be rejected.
2. Select the County or Country:

 

If you select a County you may enter a place or region in the next field.
3. Select where in the County


Place name/s if known.

Note 1: Do not enter the names of counties. If you are trying to name counties then you have either made a wrong choice above or are in the wrong site. Use the LINK button on the Home Page to find the correct list.
Note 2: Do not enter a place if you selected all Ireland (IRL) in section 2 above.

You can name regions or areas within the State/Colony rather than specific places.
Several places: separate thus:

Avoid the use of commas or full stops:

CAUTION:If you wish to enter place names, you must select a State/Colony.
4. Enter the earliest and latest dates to indicate your range:

The date range selected should make sense to the reader.
If you do not select the default is dates unknown.
5. Email: CAUTION: Ensure you enter the whole email address correctly.
6. Your Name: An appropriate alias is acceptable.
Please take time to check your entry to ensure that it conforms with our instructions and requests.
Not only will this save the compilers lots of editing time but it will also speed up the process and have your submissions online sooner!
7. Choose if this is a new submission or you wish to update your existing entry
